The newly crowned WBA champion in the super lightweight division (up to 63.5 kg), Isaac Cruz (26-2-1, 18 KOs), commented on his triumph against Rolando Romero (15-2, 13 KOs).
"I am very happy and proud to have won this title for my family and Mexico. I was ready for this. I came here not just to fight. I was here to destroy him. I said everything in the ring. And I did it not just for myself, but for everyone present. The Mexican will be champion in the super lightweight division for a long time. I feel great! You saw the fruits of four months of hard work. It's priceless. It was only a matter of time, but damn, it feels good to be a world champion. I fought with the intention of not leaving the decision in the hands of the judges. Mission accomplished," Cruz said.
On the night of March 31 in the USA, Isaac Cruz faced Rolando Romero in a fight for the WBA super lightweight title. From the first round, the champion felt the pressure – struggling under the opponent's attacks and staggering under one of them. In the 5th round, the referee penalized Romero for consistently holding his opponent, and in the 8th, intervened and stopped the fight after a prolonged attack by the challenger – TKO in the 8th round.
