Crawford vs Topuria: Ilia Calls Boxer “An Idiot,” Shakur Says Terence Could Choke Him Out

UFC Lightweight Champion Ilia Topuria once again took aim at Undisputed Super Middleweight Champion Terence Crawford. Even before Crawford’s fight with Saul Alvarez, Topuria claimed he could knock him out “with the very first contact.”

“You say you’re an MMA fan, but you don’t even know who I am… Interesting. The first time we met, you told me: ‘Good luck this week with your fight.’ Your memory is failing you… and soon your chin will too. I represent the entire MMA community. P4P No. 1 in real fights vs P4P in boxing. You’re a real idiot,” said Topuria.

Meanwhile, WBC Lightweight Champion Shakur Stevenson believes Crawford could beat Ilia not only in boxing but also in MMA.

“I think people should leave Bud alone. I even saw a photo where Terence greeted him before training or when leaving training. Let Bud be. Crawford is just on another level. Especially in a boxing ring – bro, you wouldn’t last more than one round, I think. But if we’re talking about UFC… Terence is the type of guy who could walk in and beat a few people too, because he’s got a great wrestling background. I’ve seen him wrestle real wrestlers, on a day-to-day level. Honestly, I think this dude is just different.

“In other words, I’m not saying he would definitely win, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he did, because Bud looks bigger than that guy, he’s got longer arms. I wouldn’t be surprised if, on fight night, if it were MMA, Bud knocked him out or even choked him. I just wouldn’t be surprised,” Stevenson said.
