Crawford’s Trainer on Canelo Fight: “We’ll Win — It Might Be His Last”

Brian “BoMac” McIntyre, trainer of WBA junior middleweight champion Terence Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs), has opened up about a potential blockbuster bout between his fighter and the reigning WBA, WBC, and WBO super middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (62-2-2, 39 KOs).

Listen, man—we’ll win. We’ll win. We’ll win. No, I’m not worried about the size. I don’t care about that. Terence has incredible ring vision and a high boxing IQ. The only person who can beat Terence is Terence himself.

Of course, it’s human nature to worry... especially when you’re talking about a badass like Canelo. But knowing Bud, knowing what he’s capable of—and the fact that he’s doing this for his legacy, to prove everyone wrong—he’ll be fine.

Is this challenge bigger than Errol Spence? Hell yeah. Just look at the level of accomplishments.

Could this be Crawford’s last fight? Hell yes. It’s entirely possible. This fight could very well be the last one. Yeah—it’s possible,” said McIntyre.

According to early reports, Canelo vs. Crawford is being targeted for September.

Before that, Canelo Alvarez will face William Scull on May 3 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for the undisputed super middleweight title. It was recently announced that the bout will start at 6 a.m. local time.
