Crawford’s Trainer Against One Specific Opponent: “That Fight Won’t Happen”

Brian McIntyre, trainer of three-time undisputed world champion Terence Crawford, has made it clear he is against a potential fight between the American and Britain’s Chris Eubank Jr., the reigning IBO Middleweight champion. Several reports had previously suggested the matchup was being considered.

“Terence can do whatever he wants, it doesn’t depend on me. But I absolutely don’t want to see him fight Eubank Jr., that fight won’t happen. I don’t want to see it.

As for Chris, I’ve already told him — as soon as you get through this fight (against Benn) and dominate, they won’t be able to deny you a world title shot. I believe at Middleweight he can become a world champion,” McIntyre said.

McIntyre had earlier prepared Eubank Jr. for his rematch against Liam Smith, which Chris won. At the time, Crawford also spoke with the Brit about maintaining the right mindset for the fight.

Brian will also train Chris Eubank Jr. (35-3, 25 KOs) for his upcoming rematch against Conor Benn, set for November 15 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London.

Terence Crawford (42-0, 31 KOs) has trained under Brian McIntyre since his youth.
