On August 3 at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, USA, WBA, WBC, and WBO welterweight champion (up to 66.7 kg) Terence Crawford (40-0, 31 KOs) will move up a division to fight for the WBA and WBO Interim titles in the super welterweight division (up to 69.9 kg) against Israil Madrimov (10-0-1, 7 KOs).
As part of the promotion for the fight, the boxers visited the arena where they will face each other next weekend. During the event, Crawford had a public verbal spat with Matchroom Boxing head Eddie Hearn.
– You are not better than me at anything except talking, – Crawford said to the promoter.
– You're very nervous today. I don't know what's wrong with you. Your energy is missing. I'm worried about you on Saturday, seriously. I don't think you're taking this fight the right way, – Hearn replied.
– I beat you 3-0, sir.
– One was against Ricky Burns, – Hearn recalled Crawford's 2014 fight against Ricky Burns (45-8-1, 17 KOs) where Terence won by unanimous decision to become the WBO lightweight champion (up to 61.2 kg).
– That's your best champion. Why don't you respect your best champions?
– That was your toughest fight. And on Saturday, you'll have your toughest fight.
– That's your best champion. Why don't you respect the best champion? Where's Ricky? I like Ricky, man, you're not respected, – Crawford continued.
– You robbed him in Scotland, Hearn replied.
– I robbed him?
– Yeah, – Hearn laughed.
– You know he's your best champion? Who's more successful than Ricky Burns? – Terence asked, laughing.
– Carl Froch? Anthony Joshua?
– No, no. Not Anthony Joshua. And that's my boy.
He's a three-weight world champion, respect this man's name, man.
– That's why I say he should have beaten you.
– No, he shouldn't.
– Listen. You made money and got soft.
– Hey, money and kids. Don't forget my kids, – Crawford replied after giving Hearn a high-five.
