Negotiation Date Between Crawford and Fundora to Be Set Soon

The World Boxing Organization (WBO) will set a date for the start of negotiations for a bout between the WBO, WBC, and WBA welterweight champion (up to 66.67 kg) Terence Crawford (40-0, 31 KOs) and the holder of the WBC and WBO light middleweight titles (up to 69.85 kg) Sebastian Fundora (21-1-1, 13 KOs) next week. This news was shared by WBO President Paco Valcárcel.

"A magnificent fight in Vegas. Tszyu once again showed that he is one of the best in the light middleweight division. Congratulations to Tim and Fundora, a great fight for the WBO title, won by Sebastian by a decision of the judges. Next week, the WBO will set the negotiations for the Fundora vs. Crawford fight," Valcárcel wrote.

Crawford received this opportunity thanks to his status as a WBO "super champion," which allows him to claim a championship fight when moving up in weight class. At the same time, the Organization will not strip Crawford of his welterweight title.

According to the WBC, Ukrainian Sergey Bogachuk (24-1, 23 KOs), the "interim" WBC light middleweight champion, is also a contender for the fight against Fundora.
