Haney: “Crawford should worry about more than just boxing”

Bill Haney, father of former undisputed world champion Devin Haney, believes that boxing ability isn’t the only concern for Terence Crawford ahead of his upcoming clash with Saul “Canelo” Alvarez.

“This is the biggest fight in boxing right now. Crawford is moving up in weight.

Look, Canelo is a big guy, and I respect Crawford for taking this challenge. But should he worry about more than just the boxing itself? Absolutely.

I’m not saying he’ll have anyone to blame, and he won’t look for excuses, but I’m telling you — he should be concerned.

If you saw what happened to Devin after his fight (with Ryan Garcia), he said the damage was already done. It couldn’t be undone. That’s why you need to be cautious, prepared, and at the very least — enrolled in year-round anti-doping testing,” Haney told Pro Boxing Fans.

The undisputed super middleweight title bout between Terence Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) and Canelo Alvarez (63-2-2, 39 KOs) is set for September 13 in Las Vegas.
