Conor Benn Negotiating Title Fight Against Champion

British boxer Conor Benn (23-0, 14 KOs) has announced he will stop pursuing a fight with IBO middleweight champion Chris Eubank Jr. (34-3, 25 KOs). Instead, Benn has set his sights on WBC welterweight titleholder Mario Barrios (29-2-1, 18 KOs).

“I’ve instructed my team to focus solely on finalizing a fight with Barrios. We’ve been wasting time dealing with offers for Eubank. It’s either 50-50, or nothing. I don’t want to waste any more time.

I just want to fight, and February 15 is the date for a WBC world title fight at the O2 Arena, so it’s not a problem for me. All we need is to finalize the agreement and sign the contract. Barrios’ team is ready—I know he’s already received two offers, and I think they’re fair enough,” Benn said.

In February, Conor Benn secured a unanimous decision victory over Peter Dobson. In October, Chris Eubank Jr. stopped Kamil Szeremeta with a seventh-round technical knockout. On November 15, Mario Barrios and Abel Ramos fought to a split draw over 12 rounds.
