British welterweight boxer Conor Benn (23-0, 14 KOs) has revealed that he is in negotiations for a fight with WBC champion Mario Barrios (29-2-1, 18 KOs).
"We’re in talks with Barrios about a fight for the WBC world title. If there’s one thing that could make me choose this fight over a bout with Eubank, it’s the WBC title.
Barrios’s performance against Abel Ramos? I didn’t think it was convincing. He’s a great fighter, a tough Mexican boxer, but in my opinion, he didn’t show anything extraordinary. I think he’s made for me—he’ll come forward and attack. And right now, I feel refreshed and full of energy," Benn stated.
In February, Conor Benn defeated Peter Dobson (16-2, 9 KOs) via unanimous decision. On November 15, Mario Barrios and Abel Ramos (28-6-3, 22 KOs) fought to a split draw over 12 rounds.
