Bill Haney, father and coach of WBC Super lightweight champ Devin Haney, dropped a hint about a potential weight class switch for Devin, who's still on point with his current weight:
"If the Super lightweight big dogs aren't biting at Devin's heels, we might eye the welterweight ring, no disrespect meant. Terence Crawford's stepping out, leaving a gap to be filled. Apart from Crawford, Jaron Ennis tops the charts there. Mario Barrios and the seasoned Keith Thurman are in the mix, too. These matchups? They're ticket sellers," Haney Sr. dished to Fight Hub TV.
On Dec. 10, Haney clinched a unanimous decision victory over Regis Prograis, bagging the Super lightweight title. In the Welterweight corner (under 66.7 kg), the champions to watch are Terence Crawford and Jaron Ennis.
