Chocolatito to Compete in Flyweight Division

Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez, the 36-year-old former world champion in four weight classes (51-4, 41 KOs), has announced his move from the junior bantamweight division (up to 115 lbs) to the flyweight category (up to 112 lbs).

"There's nothing concrete yet, but I will have a fight in the flyweight division. No opponent has been named so far," Gonzalez stated.

Gonzalez's last fight was in December 2022 for the vacant WBC World Junior Bantamweight title, where he faced a majority decision loss to Juan Francisco Estrada (44-3, 28 KOs).

Throughout his illustrious career, Gonzalez has clinched the WBA Minimumweight title (up to 105 lbs) in 2008, the WBA Light Flyweight title (up to 108 lbs) in 2011, the WBC and The Ring Flyweight titles in 2014, and the WBC Junior Bantamweight title in 2016.
