WBC middleweight champion (up to 72.5 kg) Jermall Charlo (33-0, 22 KOs) commented on rumors that he would fight the undisputed super middleweight champion (up to 76.2 kg) Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (60-2-2, 39 KOs) on May 4, 2024.
"I haven't even spoken to Al Haymon since my last fight. Everyone's saying, 'You're going to fight Canelo.' It's not confirmed. I'm currently on the islands. When it's official, then it's official. I offered. I said I'd do whatever it takes. We were riding jet skis, and I stopped for this," said Charlo.
The day before, Alvarez announced that his next opponent would be an American boxer, with the fight scheduled for May 4. Canelo is expected to defend his titles against Jermall Charlo. Mexican boxer Jaime Munguia (43-0, 34 KOs) was considered another candidate for the fight with Alvarez.
