WBC middleweight champion Carlos Adames was denied boarding on a flight from the U.S. to Saudi Arabia, where he is scheduled to defend his title against British contender Hamzah Sheeraz on February 22. According to Adames, he was informed that he is currently not permitted to enter the country.
"I tried to board my flight to Saudi Arabia, but they wouldn't let me on because I'm not allowed to enter the country yet.
My manager told me they said I can't enter Saudi Arabia until a certain date.
My team bought our tickets independently. They let my team board, but I wasn’t allowed to fly.
Now I'm stuck here, waiting at the Las Vegas airport," Adames explained.
This bout will mark Sheeraz’s first-ever shot at a world championship title.
