Canelo Responds to Tyson's Harsh Statement

Between March 19th and 20th, the undisputed super middleweight champion (up to 76.2 kg) from Mexico, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (60-2-2, 39 KOs), held his first press conference dedicated to his next bout against Jaime Munguia (43-0, 34 KOs). Alvarez was asked about Mike Tyson's comments regarding a potential Canelo fight against David Benavidez.

"I would respect his opinion if he were sober," Alvarez responded.

Previously, Tyson had sharply criticized Canelo's reluctance to fight David Benavidez:

"What's wrong with Canelo? Is he afraid of losing? Doesn't he want to give fans the fight they want to see? Don't you respect the legacy of the great Mexican champions who faced the best regardless of the money? It's a disgrace for boxing and Mexico," Mike said.

Alvarez's next fight is scheduled for May 4th against Jaime Munguia.
