Canelo Will Not Face Iglesias; Promoter Expects Munguia

Camille Estephan, president of the promotional company Eye of the Tiger, spoke about the next fight for his client, Cuban puncher Osleys Iglesias, who is the top contender for the vacant IBF super middleweight title. Previously, the IBF ordered a bout between the Cuban and Mexican former world champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, but Canelo is unable to participate in the match due to elbow surgery.

“We worked very hard for Iglesias to reach the #1 position. I think he truly deserves it; he fought Shishkin in an eliminator and defeated him.

We hope the IBF reacts quickly and sends a letter to the next available contender, who happens to be Jaime Munguia; we’ll see what he says.

It seems to me the IBF understands that this is a process that should be expedited. We want to get Osley into the ring as soon as possible. They gave Canelo three days, and they got an answer. We hope another letter goes out to Munguia. I can say that Osley is ready to fight anyone, without exception,” Estephan stated.
