Canelo: "Oscar Does Nothing in His Company, Just Talks"

During the first press conference in Los Angeles, USA, on March 19th, dedicated to the upcoming fight between the undisputed world super middleweight champion (up to 76.2 kg) Saúl "Canelo" Álvarez (60-2-2, 39 KOs) and Jaime Munguia (43-0, 34 KOs), a notable exchange took place.

Later, Oscar De La Hoya, head of Golden Boy and Munguia's promoter, called the press conference "as boring as Canelo's fights." In a comment to the LA Times, Saúl responded to Oscar's words.

"Oscar didn't have the courage to say those words there, at the press conference. His boxer Munguia is going to fight me, and the promoter promotes the fight this way. I think it's the dumbest way I've ever seen. And that's Oscar all over.

Oscar relies only on talking nonsense, and that's why people pay him a lot of attention, but in reality, he does nothing in his company, just talks nonsense.

That's the only thing he does, that's the only thing he's good at," said Álvarez.

Oscar De La Hoya was Canelo Álvarez's promoter, but in November 2020, the parties decided to end their collaboration. Oscar attended the press conference as Jaime Munguia's promoter.

The fight between Canelo and Munguia is set for May 4th in Las Vegas, USA.
