According to Boxing Scene, undisputed super middleweight champion (up to 76.2 kg) Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (61-2-2, 39 KOs) intends to vacate his IBF title and not proceed with his next fight against William Scull (22-0, 9 KOs).
Previously, it was reported that Scull's representatives exercised their right under IBF regulations and requested an immediate purse bid for the fight, which was scheduled for June 6 in the USA.
Additionally, Turki Alalshikh expressed his frustration with the IBF for swiftly appointing a mandatory challenger for Canelo. It was later revealed that Turki is planning a 5 vs 5 tournament between Mexican and American fighters, with the main event being a showdown between Canelo and Crawford for the undisputed championship.
Canelo Alvarez won the IBF title on November 6, 2021, by technical knockout over Caleb Plant (22-2, 13 KOs), becoming the undisputed super middleweight champion, a title he has held since then.
