Canelo in Japan? Will Saúl Return in 2024?

According to ESPN journalist and insider Salvador Rodriguez, WBA, WBC, and WBO super middleweight champion Saúl Álvarez will not be fighting in Japan for his next bout. Speculation about Canelo’s next fight taking place in this country surfaced after news broke that the Mexican star and his team were in Japan.

However, Rodriguez reports that Canelo will not return to the ring in 2024. Álvarez plans to make his next appearance in May 2025.

In 2024, Álvarez fought twice. In the spring, he defeated Jaime Munguía, and in the fall, he bested Edgar Berlanga. Both fighters lost to the Mexican by decision, after being knocked down during their respective fights.
