What's Next?

Canelo has successfully defended his undisputed super middleweight title for the fourth time. The main and most desirable contender for Saul is currently David Benavidez, who will face Ukrainian Oleksandr Gvozdyk on June 15th. Other reports suggest that Turki Al-Sheikh wants to organize a mega fight between Canelo and Terence Crawford. Alvarez himself has repeatedly hinted at a rematch with Dmitry Bivol.

But there are two more potential opponents for Saul. The first is the WBA contender, Edgar Berlanga. This fight is mandatory if Saul does not want to vacate the title, and it would also represent a Mexico vs. Puerto Rico matchup. Berlanga is confident he will pose real problems for Alvarez.

The second is Jermall Charlo. In September 2023, Canelo defeated the American's twin brother, Jermell. Now, A-Charlo is set on avenging his brother. Jermall has even stated that he will be the next opponent for the Mexican in a fight planned for September. However, there has been no official confirmation of this yet.
