In an interview with Little Giant Boxing, the undisputed world champion in the super middleweight division (up to 76,2 kg) Saul Alvarez (60-2-2, 39 KOs) responded to Floyd Mayweather, who justified the Mexican's decision not to fight David Benavides (28-0, 24 KOs).
The iconic boxer was one of the few who supported Canelo.
"Fighters have to do what's best for them, for their careers. Canelo is a future Hall of Famer. He's a cool fighter. Business? Everyone conducts their business the way they want. I wish him all the best," Mayweather said in an interview with FightHype.
Saul appreciates such support and thanked the legend.
"I feel happy about his words because Floyd knows everything. It was said by someone who achieved everything in boxing, so I feel special.
I feel good. I'm here to make history, that's it. And I will continue to do so," Canelo said.
Floyd Mayweather was the first to defeat Canelo in his professional career – in September 2013, Floyd won by majority decision.
Canelo Alvarez's next fight will be on May 4 against fellow countryman Jaime Munguia (43-0, 34 KOs) in Las Vegas, USA.
