Insider Reveals Likely Month for Canelo vs. Crawford Fight

ESPN journalist and insider Mike Coppinger has reported that WBC, WBA, and WBO super middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (62-2-2, 39 KOs) and WBA junior middleweight champion Terence Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) are indeed in negotiations, with a tentative month already being discussed for their highly anticipated bout.

"While the contract hasn’t been signed yet, Canelo and Terence Crawford are planning to fight during the Mexican Independence Day weekend in September, if all goes well.

As Crawford mentioned, the fight will take place at super middleweight with no rehydration clause," Coppinger wrote.

In 2024, Crawford had one fight, securing a decision victory over Israil Madrimov. Meanwhile, Canelo fought twice, winning on points against Edgar Berlanga and Jaime Munguia.
