Chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, Turki Alalshikh, has confirmed that the highly anticipated super fight between WBA, WBC, and WBO super middleweight champion Saúl "Canelo" Álvarez (62-2-2, 39 KOs) and WBA junior middleweight champion Terence Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs) is set for September in Las Vegas, USA.
However, official details, including the promoter and broadcast platform, will only be revealed after Canelo’s upcoming fight against IBF super middleweight champion William Scull (23-0, 9 KOs).
"After May 3, we will announce the details of Canelo vs. Crawford—one of the biggest fights in boxing history.
We won’t reveal anything before Canelo’s fight against William Scull. All details will be made public then. There will also be a surprise regarding who will promote this mega-fight and which platform will air it.
Right now, Canelo wants to stay focused on his dangerous opponent on May 3. After that, we will talk about the future," said Turki.
The Canelo vs. Scull fight is set for May 3 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with the undisputed super middleweight championship on the line.
