Canelo Prepares a "Major Announcement" Regarding His Career

TV Azteca has stirred the boxing world with news that the reigning WBA, WBO, WBC, and IBF super middleweight (up to 76.2 kg) champion, Saúl "Canelo" Álvarez (60-2, 39 KOs), is set to make a "major announcement" concerning the future of his illustrious career.

On Tuesday, February 13, Canelo plans to grace the TV Azteca channel in Mexico with his presence: "The undisputed super middleweight champion, Saúl Álvarez, will visit TV Azteca to make significant announcements about his career," TV Azteca broadcasted on Sunday via its social networks.

Speculations have been swirling about Álvarez's next bout potentially scheduled for May 4th, as reported by several outlets. According to BoxingScene, Álvarez has been in discussions with Jaime Munguía (43-0, 34 KOs). Yet, these talks are at such a preliminary stage that an announcement of this fight should not be anticipated for Tuesday.

Canelo last showcased his boxing prowess on September 30, 2023, clinching a unanimous decision victory over Jermell Charlo (35-2, 19 KOs) at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, further cementing his legacy in the annals of boxing history.
