Can Joshua Replace Fury or Usyk? John Fury Doubts It

The father of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, John Fury, shared his thoughts on the possibility of Anthony Joshua replacing Alexander Usyk or Tyson Fury if one of them is unable to participate in the fight on May 18.

"First, Joshua has to get past Ngannou, and that's no easy task.

He's dangerous – big, lean, strong, and believes in himself. Joshua has to get past him before he even thinks about replacing Fury in a fight with Usyk or vice versa.

He's already lost to Usyk twice, and if you've lost twice, would there be as much interest in a third fight? It would be the same: 'Usyk will outplay him,'" said the senior Fury.

The Ngannou – Joshua fight will take place on March 8. Usyk and Fury will meet on May 18.

Usyk defeated Anthony in September 2021 and August 2022.
