In an interview with Ready to Fight, British super lightweight boxer Campbell Hatton (14-1, 5 KOs) discussed his upcoming rematch against fellow countryman James Flint (14-2-2, 3 KOs), scheduled for October 26 in Manchester, United Kingdom.
The “Hurricane” also shared his thoughts on the Regis Prograis vs. Jack Catterall fight, where he will be competing on the undercard, as well as his expectations for the rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury on December 21.
– You have an important fight—a rematch you’ve been waiting for. You want to correct past mistakes, right?
–“Yes, one hundred percent! At first, they offered six rounds as a small comeback fight, but I won’t rest until I rectify the situation. That’s exactly what I plan to do. I train in a gym where champions or those on the path to becoming champions work out. The environment helps me progress, and in such conditions, it’s impossible not to improve. I’ve stepped out of my comfort zone, leaving friends, family, and my daughter to focus entirely on boxing. And I love it.”
– How do you think your fight will go? Will it be tough, or will we see a confident victory for Campbell Hatton?
– “I think it will be a confident victory. We’ve analyzed all the mistakes and understood what we did wrong. I believe I can surprise many.”
– The Regis Prograis vs. Jack Catterall fight. It’s an excellent matchup between two southpaws, elite boxers. What are your thoughts?
– “Yes, I’m looking forward to this fight. We’ve seen Prograis perform at the highest level, and Jack is in a position where he can’t afford to make mistakes as he stands on the brink of a world title fight. It’s a big night, especially since it’s the first fight at the new Co-op arena. I’ve sparred with Jack and know he’s a strong fighter, so I think he’ll win confidently.”
– What are your thoughts on the Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyson Fury fight?
– “You know, last time, Usyk won in a tight match, and he always finds a way to achieve his goals. He works well both offensively and defensively, and his constant pressure keeps opponents on their toes. I think this time Fury will take the fight more seriously. Last time, he played to the crowd a bit too much, but now we’ll probably see a more focused performance from him. However, I lean slightly towards Usyk winning on points.”
The first bout between Campbell Hatton and James Flint took place in March, ending with Flint winning by unanimous decision.
