Callum Smith may retire!

British boxer Callum Smith has discussed his plans following his second career defeat:

"I will spend some time with my family and see what happens next. I don't know; I've had a good career, been a world champion, been at the top. Over the years, I've given a lot to boxing. I need to sit down and evaluate what goals I still want to achieve. I wanted to become a two-division world champion, but today, I couldn't make it. It's hard to admit that I'm not the best in the world. I'll have to sit down and assess what the future holds," said Smith.

On January 14th in Quebec, Canada, a boxing event took place, where Callum Smith lost by technical knockout in the 7th round in a bout for the WBC, WBO, and IBF titles in the light heavyweight category (up to 79.4 kg) against champion Artur Beterbiev. This defeat for Callum is the second in his career; the last time he lost was to Saul Alvarez by a judges' decision in 2020.
