British Boxer Dies in Debut Match

On May 12th in London, 29-year-old British boxer Sherif Lawal lost consciousness during his debut professional match after receiving a blow to the temple from fellow countryman Malam Varela (2-4, 2 KOs).

The referee immediately stopped the fight after the boxer fell. Medical personnel urgently attempted to assist Laval, but he was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

Sherif Laval had been involved in boxing since 2018 and had turned professional this year.
