Former heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs shared his thoughts on Tyson Fury’s possible return to boxing. The Briton announced his retirement after back-to-back losses to Oleksandr Usyk in 2024, yet in the summer of 2025 Fury said he was ready to come back and complete the trilogy with the Ukrainian.
— Tyson said he would return either for a third fight with Oleksandr Usyk or for a bout with Anthony Joshua. Do you think it will happen?
— I do. Larry Holmes always said, “Never leave boxing.” If you can still make money fighting—fight. And Tyson can. He’s a huge man, he’s in shape—everything will be fine.
— Whom would you rather see Tyson face—Joshua or Usyk?
— Right now, Joshua, because Usyk is unbeatable. He’s in phenomenal condition, and he can keep boxing unless he decides to walk away himself.
— What do you think of a potential Fury–Joshua fight?
— I like the idea. I think Fury would be a bit more confident, but it would be a great fight. I love AJ—he’s a good man, a good personality, Briggs said.
