Bradley Calls Jesse Rodriguez a “Mexican Crawford”

Timothy Bradley / Sky Sports

Former world champion and current boxing analyst Timothy Bradley has heaped high praise on Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez, the reigning WBC and WBO Super Flyweight Champion, calling him nothing less than a “Mexican Crawford.”

“Nobody talks about him enough. We always sit here saying, ‘If this Black guy were Mexican, he’d get more respect, more love’ — and so on. But I don’t feel that applies to Jesse.

I don’t think he gets the proper respect from Mexicans. Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t hear many people talking about Rodriguez and his craft.

His technique is unbelievable. His skillset… I didn’t want to say it, but I will — he’s like a Mexican Crawford. That’s it. Just without all the stance switching. Instead of switching from southpaw to orthodox, he works more off angles, you know?

I love how smoothly he transitions from offense to defense while changing angles. Jesse seems to create everything on the fly. He does things in the ring you simply can’t teach. You can’t! And he does it at exactly the right moment — that’s what makes him so special. That’s what makes him so damn good,” Bradley said.

Jesse Rodriguez (22-0, 15 KOs) is set to return on November 22 in Riyadh, as part of the Benavidez–Yarde card. He will face WBA champion Fernando Martinez (18-0, 9 KOs).
