Bogachuk Sets Terms for a Fight Against Crawford

"Interim" WBC middleweight champion (up to 69.9 kg) Serhii Bohachuk (24-1, 23 KOs) shared his thoughts on a potential fight against the holder of the WBA, WBC, and WBO super welterweight titles (up to 66.7 kg) Terence Crawford (40-0, 31 KOs), his pay for the fight against Brian Mendosa (22-4, 16 KOs), his style, and the war in Ukraine.

- American referee Fernando Barbosa expressed a desire to see your fight with Crawford. What do you think? Is it possible?

- Anything is possible, but first and foremost, they will consider its profitability. If this fight brings in money and gathers people, of course, they will arrange it. Otherwise, the fight might be delayed or not happen at all. The profitability of this fight needs to be considered first.

- If such a fight took place, who would win?

- The strongest would win. And who is stronger, we would decide in the ring.

- Did you receive the biggest purse of your career for the fight against Mendosa? How much was it?

- Yes, it was the largest purse of my career. It was in the range of 70-100 thousand dollars.

- Your promoter said that thanks to your style, you are already winning over the discerning American audience. How would you briefly describe your boxing style?

- I can't describe it. I can only say that my style is a style that people like. It's interesting boxing.

- Which boxer could you compare yourself to?

- I am me. And my coach Manny Robles always tells me: "Don't copy anyone. Your style is your style. Serhii Bohachuk is Serhii Bohachuk. You have a specific style." And so, I don't compare myself to anyone. I am me.

- If you were locked in a room with Putin, what would you do?

- I think I would try to negotiate with him to end this damn war as soon as possible.

On March 30th, by unanimous decision, Serhii Bohachuk defeated Brian Mendosa and became the WBC "interim" champion.
