"Bad Karma": Bohachuk's Promoter Reacts to Announcement of Ortiz vs. Madrimov Bout

Tom Loeffler, promoter of Ukrainian boxer Serhii Bohachuk (24-2, 23 KOs), has expressed dissatisfaction with the announcement of the fight between Israil Madrimov (10-1-1, 7 KOs) and interim WBC super welterweight champion Vergil Ortiz (22-0, 2 KOs), scheduled for February 22 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The issue lies in the fact that Madrimov is set to face Bohachuk on December 21 in the undercard of the highly anticipated rematch between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury. Loeffler believes the organizers have jumped the gun by announcing Madrimov’s next opponent before this bout.

“Bad karma to post such things. Serhii Bohachuk has over 90% knockouts and dropped Vergil Ortiz twice. He’s coming for the knockout against Madrimov on December 21. No more relying on the judges,” Loeffler wrote.

"100 percent," Bohachuk affirmed in agreement.

In August, Vergil Ortiz defeated Bohachuk via unanimous decision, despite being knocked down in the first and eighth rounds. That same month, Madrimov lost his WBA world title to Terence Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs).
