Over 800 Punches from Bogachuk! Fight Statistics Against Mendosa

In the early hours of March 30th in the USA, Ukrainian middleweight boxer (up to 69.85 kg) Serhii Bogachuk (24-1, 23 KOs) clashed with American Brian Mendosa (22-4, 16 KOs) for the WBC "interim" championship title.

Following twelve rounds, Bogachuk claimed a unanimous decision victory and captured the title.

Remarkably, this was the first fight in Bogachuk's career that went the full twelve rounds.

Fight Statistics

According to Compubox statistics, Bogachuk landed 319 of 822 punches (38.8%). Mendosa's accuracy was 168 out of 507 (33.1%).

Serhii connected with 94 jabs out of 351 thrown (26.8%). For Mendosa, this figure was 49 out of 211 (23.2%).

The bulk of Bogachuk's hits were power punches: 225 out of 471 (47.8%). Mendosa's power punch accuracy was 119 out of 296 (40.2%).

What's Next?

Bogachuk is now the WBC "interim" champion at middleweight. Serhii hopes for a bout against the new full-fledged champion – Sebastian Fundora, but he remains skeptical.

Fundora is targeted by Terence Crawford and Errol Spence. The former due to his "super champion" status at WBO in a lighter category, and the latter simply because he decided so. Spence declared his interest in this fight and even traveled to Las Vegas to enter the ring after Sebastian's victory.

However, the top of the WBC rankings is filled with incredibly strong boxers, so Bogachuk will not be lacking challenges.
