Bohachuk – Ortiz: Preliminary Fight Date Set

According to ESPN insider Mike Coppinger, negotiations for a fight between WBC interim super welterweight champion (up to 69.9 kg) Serhii Bohachuk (24-1, 23 KOs) and Vergil Ortiz Jr. (21-0, 21 KOs) are in the final stages. The bout is set to take place on August 10 in Las Vegas, USA.

In March, Bohachuk won a unanimous decision over Brian Mendoza, capturing the WBC interim title.

Ortiz was initially scheduled to face Tim Tszyu on August 3, but the fight was canceled due to an injury Tszyu sustained in his bout against Sebastian Fundora in March. The fight was supposed to take place on the undercard of the bout between Terence Crawford and Israil Madrimov.
