Promoter Bob Arum said that WBO/WBA/IBF/IBO world heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk wants an equal split of income between boxers in a unification fight with WBC title holder Tyson Fury. Currently, the parties are waiting for proposals from investors from Saudi Arabia, who intend to provide financial support for the match.
"The fighters agreed to fight. I spoke to Frank Warren. We give them until the end of the week to come with an offer. I think we will get it. If that doesn't happen, we'll fight at Wembley. And then we'll have to talk about percentages, because Usyk wants 50-50. It's not right if the fight takes place at Wembley, because there will be 95,000 British people and big British pay-per-view, so Tyson deserves the lion's share."
"But this will not happen if investors from Saudi Arabia come. They conclude agreements with each of the fighters. We were assured that the offer would arrive this week. I'll believe it when I see it, but they've already made arrangements like that in the past."
The unification fight between Usyk and Fury may take place in February or March of this year. Promoter Oleksandr Krasiuk said that the most effective working date for the fight with Fury is March 4.
Promoter Frank Warren said that the fight between the Ukrainian and the Briton could include a rematch clause.
