Arum Criticizes Canelo Ahead of Crawford Clash

Founder and head of Top Rank Promotions, Bob Arum, shared his blunt take on the upcoming mega-fight between undisputed super middleweight champion Saul "Canelo" Álvarez (63-2-2, 39 KOs) and WBA junior middleweight titleholder Terence Crawford (41-0, 31 KOs).

Can Terence Crawford beat Álvarez? Well, who is Canelo now, and which version of Canelo will step into the ring?

Will it be the one who’s just there to cash a big check, or the one who actually wants to fight like a real warrior? Because the Canelo we’ve seen the last couple of years — not only has he been a boring fighter, he’s looked completely unmotivated, unwilling to take risks or deliver something exciting for the fans.

If I had to pay to watch that fight, I wouldn’t. The Canelo we’ve seen recently is just a businessman — he’s not interested in entertaining the crowd.

Now, if Canelo actually shows up to fight, and Terence — who always brings it, because that’s just who he is — then yeah, it could be an exciting matchup,” said Arum.

The bout between Canelo and Crawford is scheduled to take place on September 12 in Las Vegas, USA.
