Top Rank founder Bob Arum shared his thoughts on a possible matchup between eight‑division great Manny Pacquiao and WBA welterweight titleholder Rolando Romero:
“I think Manny would be competitive with any of these welterweights, and to me Romero—who’s less technical than the guy Manny just fought (Mario Barrios)—would be the perfect opponent. I give Manny a good chance of beating Romero,” Arum said.
Both Pacquiao and Romero have already voiced interest in the bout.
On 19 July Manny Pacquiao (62‑8‑3, 39 KOs) boxed to a draw with WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios, falling short of reclaiming a title. In May Rolando Romero (17‑2, 13 KOs) defeated Ryan Garcia by unanimous decision, dropping him in round two.
