Bob Arum, the head of the Top Rank promotion company, has confirmed that lightweight contender Shakur Stevenson will compete for the vacant WBC title in his upcoming bout.
While Arum has not specified the opponent, he did mention that it will be one of the top contenders from the organization's ranking, especially after Vasyl Lomachenko declined the fight offer.
"Let’s see. We’re going to get the best possible opponent. If it’s not Lomachenko, it’ll be somebody else. He’ll be fighting for the lightweight title, and in my mind, based on ability, Shakur is right up there as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters," Arum shared with Boxing News 24.
