Top Rank founder and CEO Bob Arum has commented on the cancellation of the bout between his fighter, former WBO lightweight champion Keyshawn Davis (13-0, 9 KOs), and Edwin De Los Santos (16-2, 14 KOs).
“I don’t know what this kid [Keyshawn Davis] was thinking. I don’t understand what all his trainers were doing. I just don’t get it anymore.
It’s incredibly disappointing — especially since the fight was supposed to take place in his hometown,” Arum said.
The fight was scheduled for June 7 in Norfolk, USA, but it was canceled after Davis missed the 135-pound limit by 4.3 pounds (approx. 2 kg) and was stripped of his WBO world title. The parties were unable to reach an agreement to move forward.
