Billy Joe Saunders Outlines Condition for Tyson Fury’s Return from Retirement

Former world champion and friend of Tyson Fury, Billy Joe Saunders (30-1, 14 KOs), shared his view on what could lure the British heavyweight back into the ring.

If you look at what Tyson Fury has done for himself, for British fans, and for boxing in general… if he wants to end his career, he can do that. But knowing Tyson, if he gets bored, it won’t be hard for him to come back from retirement.

I know he asked for 500 million, and I think that realistically, if this fight (with Joshua, ed.) is to happen, they need to offer that kind of sum to make it possible.

He’s probably already made 500 million. Why would he now return to the training camp, put himself under stress, and take punches at his age?

I believe that for Tyson it would have to be a very large sum to make him decide to do it again. And I think the figure he mentioned should be met in order for this fight to happen.

This is my opinion – not a single fight is worth 500 million. If you split that between two fighters, is it possible? I don’t know. It all depends on where the fight takes place, how big it is, how much public interest there is. There are many factors to consider before making financial decisions. One thing I know for sure – it has to be the biggest payday of his career for him to decide to come out of retirement,” Saunders stated.

Recall that in January 2025, Tyson Fury announced his retirement from professional boxing.
