WBC, WBO, and IBF light heavyweight champion (up to 79.4 kg) Artur Beterbiev (20-0, 20 KOs) suffered a meniscus injury during training.
Beterbiev will undergo knee surgery and is expected to recover at least until September. His fight against WBA and IBO champion Dmitry Bivol (22-0, 11 KOs) will be postponed until the end of the year.
The event was initially scheduled for June 1st in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with a 5 vs. 5 tournament between Matchroom Boxing and Queensberry Promotions planned in the undercard. The head of Saudi Arabia's General Entertainment Authority, Turki Al-Sheikh, announced that a new opponent is being sought for Bivol, and the 5 vs. 5 tournament will proceed as planned.
