"The Best Version of Usyk." Coach on Cuban Prospect

Coach Bob Santos, who works with Cuban super heavyweight boxer Dainier Pero (6-0, 4 KOs), explained why he considers his boxer to be a better version of Ukrainian champion Oleksandr Usyk.

"It's very difficult to compare anyone to Pero right now. He is like an improved version of Usyk. He's physically bigger than Usyk but possesses the boxing skills of Oleksandr. He has quick feet, quick hands – he has it all.

He's also young; he just turned 24. Super heavyweights mature late, so for a super heavyweight, he's like a 15-year-old. I think he has a huge chance to become the first Cuban heavyweight champion in history.

It's possible that his brother Lenier might beat him to it. I train him too," said Santos.

Pero made his debut at the end of 2022. In 2024, Dainier fought once – defeating Joe Jones (14-10, 10 KOs) by knockout.
