Puerto Rican boxer Edgar Berlanga (22-0, 17 KOs) has declared that he has everything necessary to knock out his next opponent, former undisputed super middleweight champion (up to 76.2 kg) Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (61-2-2, 39 KOs).
"I feel confident, and Canelo doesn’t like that because he wants everyone to respect him. If he tries to open up with uppercuts or hooks, I will counter hard.
He thinks I don’t have punching power, but I know my capabilities. I got a Glock for you. He underestimates the situation. I didn’t knock out 16 cab drivers while he was fighting in Mexico. I fought guys who went the distance with champions, and I still knocked them out in the first round. So my power is real, but he’s underestimating it," Berlanga said.
In reality, none of the boxers Berlanga knocked out in the 1st round had participated in championship bouts. Berlanga went the distance with all title contenders, except for Padraig McCrory (18-1, 9 KOs), whom the Puerto Rican knocked out in the 6th round.
The Canelo vs. Berlanga fight is scheduled for September 14th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, USA.
