World Boxing Organization (WBO) super featherweight (up to 59 kg) champion Emanuel Navarrete (38-1-1, 31 KOs) and WBO International lightweight (up to 61.2 kg) champion Denys Berinchyk (18-0, 9 KOs) are nearing an agreement for a championship fight in the lightweight division.
According to BoxingScene, the teams are negotiating and are likely to avoid an auction for the planned fight for the WBO lightweight title. The boxers' teams were instructed to conduct negotiations on January 29th, shortly after Navarrete was granted "super champion" status.
Preliminary rumors suggest the potential fight could take place in May this year in San Diego, USA.
