Promotional company Top Rank has officially announced the fight for the vacant WBO lightweight title (up to 61.2 kg) between Denys Berinchyk (18-0, 9 KOs) and Emanuel Navarrete (38-1-1, 31 KOs).
The bout is set for May 18th at the Pechanga Arena in San Diego, USA.
Denys Berinchyk and Emanuel Navarrete will vie for the WBO lightweight title, left vacant after Devin Haney (31-0, 15 KOs) moved up to the light welterweight division (up to 63.5 kg).
Berinchyk is the official contender, while Navarrete will leverage his "super champion" status at WBO junior lightweight (up to 58.96 kg), which grants him the right to fight for the WBO championship title upon moving up in weight class.
