Denis Berinchik, the Ukrainian WBO international lightweight champion (18-0, 9 KOs), may have a chance to compete for the world champion title, depending on Devin Haney's decision.
If Devin Haney, the current WBO World Champion, chooses to definitively to vacate the division, Berinchik will emerge as a contender for the title. This information was disclosed by WBO President Francisco Valcarcel during the organization's Rating Committee meeting. Additionally, two potential opponents have been identified: Angelo Fierro, the WBO NABO champion, and Isaac Cruz, the WBO Latino champion.
However, at the moment, Cruz is engaged in negotiations for a rematch against Gervonta Davis. Valcarcel also emphasized the need to await the outcome of Haney's fight against Regis Prograis. The WBO President believes that if Devin emerges victorious, he might opt to remain in the first light welterweight division. The Haney vs. Prograis bout is scheduled for December 9.
