Former world champion Brit Nigel Benn is confident that Welshman Joe Calzaghe would defeat the current undisputed super middleweight champion (up to 76.2 kg) Saúl "Canelo" Álvarez (60-2-2, 37 KOs).
"Joe Calzaghe would have definitely beaten Canelo.
He was the best super middleweight fighter of all time," Benn stated for Fruity Slots.
Joe Calzaghe is one of the 12 world champions who retired undefeated. He last boxed in 2008, defeating Roy Jones Jr. In his final three fights, Calzaghe defeated Mikkel Kessler, Bernard Hopkins, and Roy Jones Jr., retiring with a record of 46-0, 32 KOs.
Like Álvarez, he held all four belts, though not simultaneously.
