Canelo's Chicken Dance: Benavidez's Dad Claims He's Dodging David!

Jose Benavidez Sr., the chief in the corner for interim WBC super middleweight champ David Benavidez, is throwing some heavy leather about the division's top dog, Saul Alvarez, sidestepping a scrap with his son:

"I'm betting this match won't see the light of day. Canelo's dodging David like he's got cooties. He's all over the map, wanting to duke it out with Munguia, eyeing a tangle with Jermall Charlo.

He's ragging on David, saying he hasn't slugged it out with any real contenders – that's just a smokescreen, a chicken move because he's spooked to face him. His squad's doing the ol' bob and weave to keep clear of David.

Canelo's crowning himself king, acting like he's the boss of the WBC. My prayer is the WBC plays it straight. David's the rightful challenger – if Canelo's ducking the fight come March, they ought to strip him of that title," Benavidez Sr. let fly.

In 2023, Jose Benavidez has racked up two wins – outboxing Caleb Plant and giving Demetrius Andrade the early exit.
