Benavidez Sr Explains Why Fight Against Crawford Won’t Happen

The father and trainer of WBC Light Heavyweight Champion David Benavidez, Jose Benavidez Sr., explained why a fight against Terence Crawford is unlikely to ever take place.

David is too big for Terence. I think Crawford will be 38 years old. This is not the same as with Canelo. David is young, strong, and simply too big for Crawford. With David, it’s a completely different story.

He needs to beat someone else at Super Middleweight to gain full recognition. I don’t know if he can do that. He’s too small for this weight.

Crawford doesn’t have a big audience. I don’t think he will take Canelo’s fans. Crawford is a great boxer, but unfortunately, he doesn’t have a huge following.

Bivol beat Canelo. Does Bivol have a big audience? Crawford just doesn’t have the same charisma as Canelo,” said Benavidez.

Crawford (42-0, 31 KOs) defeated Canelo Alvarez by unanimous decision in his previous fight, becoming the undisputed champion at Super Middleweight.
