David Benavidez (30-0, 24 KOs), the WBC interim and WBA Regular light heavyweight champion, has responded to Canelo Alvarez’s (62-2-2, 39 KOs) decision to sign a four-fight contract with Riyadh Season by once again calling for a fight.
"Imagine if Canelo had just agreed and we already fought.
It’s not about the money—it’s about what the sport needs right now. We need to make this happen for the fans.
Without a doubt, this would be the biggest all-Mexican fight in boxing history.
Let’s give the fans what they deserve. We’re 300% ready on this side, but I can’t say the same about the other side."
Rumors had been swirling about potential fights for Canelo, including a bout with Jake Paul and a megafight against Terence Crawford. After signing his Riyadh Season deal, the Jake Paul fight is officially off the table, while the Crawford showdown remains in play.
