Journalist Dan Rafael, via his Twitter page, citing promoter Sampson Lewkowicz, reported that the fight between former champion Oleksandr Gvozdyk (20-1, 16 KOs) and the WBC "interim" super middleweight (up to 76.2 kg) champion David Benavidez (28-0, 24 KOs) is preliminarily scheduled for early June.
Furthermore, it's claimed that Benavidez will return to the super middleweight division and retain his status as the mandatory challenger, aiming for a fight against the undisputed champion Canelo Alvarez (60-2-2, 39 KOs) in September.
As previously reported, the WBC sanctioned a fight for the "interim" light heavyweight title (up to 79.3 kg) between Oleksandr Gvozdyk and David Benavidez.
